Adjustable hinge for vehicle seat back

The seat back hinge has two interlocking parts. The first part is coupled to the seat and the second coupled to the seat back. Radially sprung toothed segments are pushed outwards into mesh with an inner toothed ring by a central cam. The cams have control lugs (34) which align with slots in the side of a guide ring (48) which is rotated with the seat rake setting. When the seat back is released to tilt forward e.g. for access to the rear seats, the lugs are disengaged from the guide ring. When the seat back is tilted forward again the lugs drop back into the slots to secure the seat back setting into its original state.
