Multi layer optic fibre insulation

For the continuous prodn. of the insulation for an optic fibre (1), an initial thin barrier layer (3) is applied of radiation-hardening silicon acrylate which is then set by ultra violet radiation. The optic fibre is covered by a further layer of a soft material, (4) which is hardened by ultra violet radiation, followed by a further layer (5) which is set by ultra violet or an extruded nylon layer.
