Promoting greater uniformity of gases liberated from untreated waste

This new method incinerates (10) untreated waste. Equipment includes a feeder (12), combustion chamber (16) and first radiative flue heat exchange section (14) with flue gas duct. Waste is delivered by the feeder into the combustion chamber. Here its moisture content is driven off. It is burned with primary and secondary air to flue gas, which passes through the heat exchange section and away through the duct. The new feature is a homogeniser, located in the transition zone between combustion chamber and radiative heat exchange flue. This induces uniform distribution of: composition, velocity and temperature, in the flue gases. This in turn optimises combustion. The corresponding equipment is also claimed. The heat exchange section is preferably in the form of a boiler.
