An evaporative condensation type ammonia refrigeration unit provided with a leakage ammonia gas removing means, wherein a high water solubility of ammonia is utilized for the recovery of a leakage ammonia gas and cooling water used for an evaporative condenser is used as the water for dissolving the ammonia gas therein, and which is characterized in that the ammonia refrigeration unit includes a gas-liquid counterflow type ammonia absorption mechanism provided in the portion of a space in an upper storage chamber which is on the lower side of the evaporative condenser.
