<p>A data storage/retrieval system which does not use conventional indices, but utilizes the random accessibility of semiconductor devices. The system comprises a location table for managing storage blocks and making access with a main key and an alternate key table for making access with an alternate key to perform high-speed access, minimize the load during maintenance, and to realize high speed storage/update/retrieval. In principle, a plurality of records are stored in one block. This system can also handle variable length records and spanned records.</p> |
