<p>A preform (1) is injection molded. Thermal energy such as radiant heat, convective heat, or ultraviolet energy is applied to the preform (1) to form a desired pattern (5) by altering the molecular morphology and optionally imprinting of the surface or subsurface of the portion to be patterned. The preform (1) is used to blow mold a container (3) having a shaped and/or colored pattern. The thermal energy changes the molecular morphology by crystallization, chain scission, degradation or melting. The thermal energy may be supplied by a heater, branding iron or laser.</p> |
