A cord(9) is fitted parallel to the side edges(10,11) of the material web. The cord is guided in a section of the surface of the web formed by an upper and a lower layer. The cord runs through slots inside the web alternating along its front and rear side. The double layered section is formed through folding over along a folding edge(3) parallel to the side edges. An additional folding edge parallel to the first may be provided to form a Z-shaped double fold.
