Immersion pipe for cold chamber die-casting machine

The immersion pipe comprises a top section (6") for pouring in a liquid metal and a tubular section (6') which extends along an axis (L) and serves for introducing the metal into the casting chamber (4) of a cold chamber die-casting machine. The immersion pipe is made up of at least two parts (6a, 6b). Also claimed is a die-casting machine having sensors (15, 16) for establishing whether the immersion pipe is in its working or rest position. The sensors are connected to a switching system which allows the casting plunger to be activated only when the immersion pipe is in its rest position.
