METHOD FOR OPTIMIZING THE USE OF CONNECTING SECTIONS IN VARIABLE BIT RATE (ABR) TRAFFIC

In ABR connections control cells are added to the flow of ATM cells. These control cells are sent back to the emitting device. To be able to ensure that control is efficient, the flow of ATM cells belonging to ABR connections is measured and subjected to a control procedure. The result of said control procedure is then possibly recorded in the information part of the retransmitted control cells.
