Improved process oils and manufacturing process for such using aromatic enrichment and two stage hydrofining

Production of a process oil involves: (a) adding an aromatic extract oil to a naphthenic rich stream to provide a feed for hydrotreating, (b) hydrotreating the feed in a first hydrotreating stage at 300-375 [deg]C, partial hydrogen pressure of 300-3500 psia and LHSV of 0.1-2 v/hr, (c) removing hydrogen sulphide and ammonia from the hydrotreated feed and (d) hydrotreating the hydrotreated feed in a second hydrotreating stage at lower temperature than the first stage and at 275-370 [deg]C, hydrogen partial pressure of 300-2500 psig and LHSV of 0.1-2 v/v/hr.
