The system (100) includes highly efficient, light weight, durable, and wear and abrasion resistant sliding and rotating components. In particular the components of the ceramic drive system has centre links. Centre rollers and sprockets are arranged for sliding and rotating contact and each comprising high precision tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (TZP) ceramic or alternatively zirconia-alumina ceramic composite.
