FIELD: railway transport; tank cars of horizontal design. SUBSTANCE: proposed railway tank car has barrel in form of horizontal reservoir installed on running gear through frame and consisting of bottom plates and cylindrical shell made of three rings of which end rings are connected with bottom plates and are freely fitted on frame, and middle ring is rigidly secured on frame by means of shaped feet and is provided with hatch and draining device. Each ring of cylindrical shell consists of upper and lower armored sheets connected to each other so that ratio of thickness of upper to lower sheets is 1:1.2. Each girth weld between middle and end ring is made at a distance from bottom equal to 0.15-0.3 of total length of shell. Middle ring consists of maximum four sheets. EFFECT: enhanced manufacturability and strength of barrel, reduced metal usage. 2 dwg
