PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat resistant and heat rays interrupting glass capable of exhibiting an excellent heat rays interrupting function even at a high temp. of >=650 deg.C and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The heat rays interrupting glass 1 has a thin film 2 for interrupting the heat rays on the surface of a glass substrate 10. The glass substrate 10 has a low thermal expansion and also has a softening point of >=650 deg.C, and the thin film 2 is a tin oxide based film formed at >=650 deg.C. A thermal expansion coefficient of the glass substrate 10 is -10 to +15×10<-7> preferably. The glass substrate 10 is made of a crystallized glass or a quartz glass preferably.
