PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing thioanisole capable of suppressing deterioration of a catalyst to the utmost and suppressing production of an inert gas in a catalyst reaction under vapor phase of thiophenol with methanol. SOLUTION: In the method for producing thioanisol by reacting thiophenol with methanol in the presence of a catalyst in vapor phase, the catalyst is diluted with a substance without having catalytic activity. The catalyst is preferably selected from a group comprising active alumina, silica-alumina and silica gel and the substance without having catalytic activity is selected from a group comprising α-alumina, glass and porcelain, and a catalytic layer in a part within 60% from a raw material inlet in whole catalytic layer is diluted at a dilution ratio of 15-80% with the substance without having catalytic activity. |
