<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a head light in weight and large in size, to enhance its durability, and to make it easy to cast the head. SOLUTION: A Ti-Be alloy is used as the material of a head 1. The Be is present in the Ti as a compound of TiBe2 by 20 wt.% or so. The use of such a Ti-Be alloy can achieve weight reduction and raise Young's module, leading to enhanced durability. The Ti-Be alloy has a melting point as low as 1000 deg.C or lower as compared with that of pure titanium and is easy to cast.</p> |
