<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a silica gel in a significantly large amt. in one series of treatment processes compared to a conventional method, and to produce a silica gel in a practically enough amt. as a dehumidifying element in one series of treatment by dipping a base body in a silica sol, drying, dipping in a mixture soln. of alkali silicate and alkali hydroxide, taking out from the soln., heating, and treating with an acid. SOLUTION: It is preferable to use a silica sol having <50 nm particle size. A mixture soln. is prepared by mixing an alkali silicate soln. and an alkali hydroxide soln. in water. The concn. of the alkali silicate is preferably 20 to 35% and the concn. of the alkali hydroxide is preferably 20 to 50%. For an inorg. fibrous paper which forms a honeycomb structural body of a dehumidifying element, E glass fiber and silica alumina fiber are preferably used. The process to form the inorg. fibrous paper into a honeycomb structure may be carried out before the series of processes or during the processes, namely, after a second dipping process.</p> |
