PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition suitable for ink jet printing, satisfying such conditions as water solubility, thermal stability, high boiling point, low viscosity, compatibility with coloring agents, etc., by including a monomer oxazolidinone compound, etc. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) water, (B) a coloring agent cosisting of a dye (about 1-10 wt.%) or pigment (about 2-7%), such as carbon black having a particle size of 0.1-1μm, etc., and (C) about 5-30 wt.% of a monomer oxazolidinone compound liquid or solid at room temperature, having a boiling point of >=300 deg.C, such as 3-methyl-2-oxazolidinone, etc. The objective composition satisfies high surface tension, hydrolysis resistance, low volatility, etc., and also, shows excellent frequency response and waiting time characteristics, etc., even when this composition is used for a thermal ink jet printer having a printing head capable of printing at 600 dots/inch. |
