PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject dispersion having good water resistance and adhesion to the ground and useful for synthetic resins, etc., by including an epoxy resin as an essential component. SOLUTION: This aqueous resin dispersion is obtained by subjecting (A) a radically polymerizable ethylenic unsaturated monomer to radical polymerization with (B) an epoxy resin, (C) an emulsifier, preferably a reactive emulsifier, (D) a polymerization initiator, preferably an oil-soluble polymerization initiator having <=0.3 wt.% solubility to water and water as essential components while keeping oil droplets of dropping monomer to <=0.5μm. Furthermore, average particle diameter of the resultant dispersion is preferably <=150μm and a monomer having carboxyl group is preferably used in an amount of 0.5-5 wt.% based on total monomer as the component A.
