POLYVINYL ALCOHOL RESIN COMPOSITION, PAPER COATING AGENT COMPRISING MAINLY THE COMPOSITION, AND AQUEOUS EMULSION COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PVA resin composition which is excellent in workability because of long pot life even when a crosslinking agent coexists in a state of an aqueous solution or emulsion mixture, is free from problems of discoloration and deterioration even after being left to stand for a long time, and reveals excellent water resistance even when dried at relatively low temperature, a paper coating agent comprising mainly the resin composition, and an aqueous emulsion composition containing the resin composition. SOLUTION: This PVA resin composition is obtained by blending a polyvinyl alcohol modified with a diacetone acrylamide copolymer and containing 0.1-15 mol.% diacetone acrylamide units, a hydrazine compound and an aminocarboxylic acid. The paper coating agent comprises mainly an aqueous solution of the PVA resin composition. The aqueous emulsion composition contains the PVA resin composition.
