PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a functional material produced by a simple process, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This functional material has a thin polymer film 1 which contains, as the active component, a polymer material having a functional group capable of forming an amino group when irradiated with light and another functional group capable of forming an organic residue when irradiated with light, and is obtained by (A) irradiating the film 1 with light 3 in such a way to preferentially form an amino group on one portion 5 and to simultaneously form an amino group and organic residue on another portion 6, and (B) bringing the film 1 into contact with a mixed dye solution 8 containing a dye A having an affinity for the amino group and another dye B having affinity for the organic residue, so as to form a portion 9 mainly dyed with the dye A at the portion where the amino group is preferentially formed as a result of light irradiation and another portion 10 dyed with the dyes A and B at the portion where the amino group and residue are formed simultaneously as a result of light irradiation. |
