PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition excellent in abrasion resistance and water resistance as well as light resistance, and useful in color ink jet printers, etc., by including a coloring material, polymeric microparticles having ultraviolet light absorbing ability and light stability, and others. SOLUTION: This ink composition is obtained by including (A) 2-15 wt.% of a coloring material consisting of a pigment <=0.1 μm in particle size, (B) water, (C) 5-10 wt.% of a water-soluble organic solvent consisting of a low- boiling organic solvent such as a monohydric alcohol, and (D) 1-5 wt.% of polymeric microparticles <=30 deg.C in glass transition temperature, 5-100 nm or so in size with simple particle or core-shell structure made from a polymer emulsion prepared, for example, by adding an ultraviolet light absorber such as 2(2'-hydroxy-5'-methylphenyl)benzotriazole to a monomer component such as butyl acrylate or styrene followed by emulsion polymerization, and also 1-10 wt.% of a high-boiling organic solvent such as glycerol as a wetting agent. |
