PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove odor from combustion gas produced at ignition or extinction time efficiently, and contrive to use a catalytic body for a long period of time at low cost by a method wherein the oxidizing catalyst is supported by an adsorption body consisting essentially of sepiolite powder heat treated at specified temperature or higher and inorganic fibers chemically stable at the same temperature or higher. SOLUTION: Sepiolite powder obtained by a method wherein natural sepiolite is ground or classified and then independently heat treated at 550 deg.C or higher in the air and respective specified amounts of inorganic fibers, organic fibers, and an organic binder are suspended in water of which amount is enough to solve a small amount of a surface-active agent and then sieved by a mesh to obtain a sheet body. The sheet body is rolled to be dewatered and dried to get the sheet body with flexibility and toughness. The sheet body is mounted onto a stainless steel plate 2, where a number of clicks 3 are cut and set upright on a single side of the stainless steel plate 2, and rolled and immersed in platinum chloric acid aqueous solution and burned at 550 deg.C or higher to obtain an adsorption oxidizing catalyzer 1 distributing activated platinum into small-size holes on the sepiolite powder surfaces. The adsorption oxidizing catalytic body 1 maintains large adsorptivity with stable specific surface areas and can maintain high efficiency of supported oxidizing catalysts. |
