PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having antifungal activity, new structure, and new action mechanism, by culturing Fusarium sp. strain TF-0547 which produces an antifungal compound AFA0424. SOLUTION: This compound, which is a new compound AFA0424 shown by the formula and is useful as an antibiotic compound and the like having antifungal activity, new structure, and new action mechanism, is obtained by inoculating Fusarium sp. strain TF-0547 (FERM P-16189), which produces an antifungal compound AFA0424, to a liquid medium, shaking the resulting medium at 24 deg.C for 5 days on a shaker at 200 rpm, inoculating the obtained seed culture to a liquid medium in a jar fermentor, aerating the resulting medium at 26 deg.C for 4 days stirring at 150 rpm, collecting cells by centrifugation of the culture broth, extracting the obtained cells with a solvent, followed by purification of the obtained extract by silica gel column chromatography and so on. |
