PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which reduces a shift of an ink film from a required transfer amount, obtains a proper transfer amount of the ink film in printing of each color, and can always print at a position where the ink film is stable even from a first sheet, e.g. when a power source is turned on. SOLUTION: A rotational angle of an ink film wind roller corresponding to a transfer amount La after a first color is completely printed before a trail end of an ink layer of the first color in a transfer direction of the film is detected by a color detection sensor S3' is measured by an encoder sensor. A differenceΔna between a measured value na and a reference value n3 requiring no corrections is obtained. Supposing that a color order of the repeatedly formed ink layer is N, the apparatus is controlled so that a correction transfer amount corresponding toΔna/(N-2) is added to an ink film reference transfer amount n0 corresponding to a preliminarily determined length of the ink layer of each color in printing of a third color and thereafter not requiring corrections.
