The lighting system has a panel (34) that is mounted above a work station (33) e.g. desk. The panel has lighting units within the outer sections (11, 13), while the centre section contains a motion detector and a brightness sensor. The motion detector has an angular range of some 92 degrees, while the brightness sector has 97 degrees.
