METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SENSING AND CHARACTERIZING PARTICLES
摘要
Apparatus (50') for sensing and characterizing particles suspended in a liquid medium comprises a volumeter conduit (C) through which said suspension is caused to pass simultaneously with electrical current. In preferred embodiments, delimited central region of conduit (C) is defined by dielectric wafer (W) containing central circular conduit (10') and distal conductive elements are defined by uninsulated, metallic, circular collars (52') and (53') attached to opposite sides of conduit water (W). Collars (52') and (53') are thicker than the diameter of conduit (C). Conduit (10') in conduit wafer (W) and respective openings (58 and 59) in collars (52' and 53') collectively form hydrodynamically smooth conduit (C), wherein electric and hydrodynamic fields of volumeter conduit (C) are advantageously amended.
