<p>The present invention provides an attenuated, genetically-engineered pseudorabies virus designated S-PRY-155 (ATCC Accession No. VR 2311). A vaccine is provided which comprises an effective immunizing amount of S-PRY-155 and a suitable carrier. A method of immunizing an animal against disease caused by pseudorabies virus is also provided which comprises administering to the animal an effective immunizing dose of the vaccine. The present invention also provides a method for distinguishing an animal vaccinated with the vaccine of the present invention from an animal infected with a naturally-occurring, wild-type pseudorabies virus.</p> |
