Cleaning of solvent, e.g. per:chlor:ethylene

In the cleaning of a solvent, e.g. perchlorethylene used in a textile cleaning process, before it is necessary to remove the distillation residues from the distillation cooling system solvent outlet, a mixture of air and solvent is sucked from the distillation cooling system via a liquid separator. With the heating system in operation, the solvent is blown into the distillation residue reservoir. The distillation residue is aerated, the remaining solvent is liberated, evaporated and then condensed in the distillation cooling section, following which the mixture of air and solvent is again exhausted, passed through the distillation cooler and liquid separator, and the air is then expelled into the distillation reservoir. The air circulation process is repeated until the solvent recovered from the distillation reservoir falls below a pre-determined level.
