The vehicle has a portable remotely operated transmitter and an associated key, having readable identification information for unlocking an electronic drive away protection, and with person related adjustment values of installed parts. The remotely controlled transmitter and the key have identification numbers independent of each other. The key identification numbers and associated transmitter numbers are retained in a storage. Adjustment values of the key number are allocated with a remotely controlled command input, also the remotely controlled transmitter number, so that based on stored allocation, the adjustment values allocated to the associated key are adjusted. Additionally, if the associated key is operated, the adjustment values are maintained. With an additional alteration of the adjustment values, the altered values of the key number are assigned.
