The invention relates to a refrigerant compressor comprising a motor unit (20) which has a motor and a cooling duct (36), running from an external cooling duct connection for the motor. The refrigerant compressor also has a compressor unit (26) having a compressor stage with an inlet (48), an outlet (50), and a suction duct (46). The suction duct runs from an external suction connection and, like the cooling duct, leads to the compressor stage outlet. The invention seeks to improve this refrigerant compressor so that cooling can be carried out variably and with a minimum of structural alterations. To this end, an external connection unit (32) is fitted, onto which the cooling duct connection and the suction connection are mounted. Furthermore, the connection unit has a support and an adjusting device (71) which can be inserted into the support in at least two different positions. The proportion of the total amount of suction gas which is supplied to the cooling channel connection and the suction channel via an external suction gas connection can thus be varied by setting the adjustment device (71) to different positions.
