A guide mechanism which enables stable travelling of a connection conveying device having a plurality of treads which are connected so that all the tread surfaces are maintained horizontal in forward and rearward paths. Guide rollers are rotatably mounted on bent shafts provided centrally of respective links of that one amoung link trains, which is positioned at the lowermost position, and are guided along guide grooves. Driving for travelling includes driving the guide rollers while being interposed between roller teeth provided on a gear, driving pin teeth provided vertically on the treads, and a combination of the both driving methods. Instead of a parallel link mechanism, single train links and horizontal maintaining rollers can be used in combination to maintain the treads horizontal. The guide mechanism can be applied to small and large width type escalators, moving sidewalk, and moving slope.
