<p>A container comprises an outer receptacle 2 with air vents 10 therein and provided with spacers such as ribs 8 to hold an inner gas-permeable bag 6 spaced from the inner surface of the outer receptacle 2 so that air can circulate between the bag 6 and the receptacle 2. The bag 6 may be of paper or a permeable polymeric or composite material. It may be suspended and/or be supported from beneath and there may be a removable tray beneath for catching liquids or solids. The container may be a wheeled, lidded refuse bin with its vertical spacer ribs 8 alternating with elongate vents 10 in its side wall, and further vents 10 in its base. A composition for repelling or killing pests such as insects may be provided in a holder attached to the outer receptacle or its lid, or may be incorporated in the bag by coating or impregnating.</p> |
