<p>A device and method for displaying pictures by which the operator can easily confirm the outline of an animation and easily select a desired scene in a short time by immediately recognizing the overall flow of the animation based on the animation data on the basis of a displayed specific frame and a still picture by generating the picture data of the still pictures based on the data obtained by one-dimensionally sampling a series of two-dimensionally displayed animation data in one direction while the sampling position is successively moved in the opposite direction, and by detecting the specific frame in the series of the animation based on the animation data and displaying the detected specific frame together with the still picture based on the picture data generated by a generating means by matching the time bases to each other.</p> |
