PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of a removal effect for deposits due to a state change with time of a protecting film of a heat-generating element or on the protecting film, and enable recording of images with good quality at all times. SOLUTION: A control part 4 holds a plurality of recovery operation conditions. The number of liquid jet times by a heatgenerating element 2 is counted from input recording data, or the number of exchange times of a tank 5 is counted. A state change with time of a protecting film of the heat- generating element 2 or on the protecting film is thus detected indirectly. The recovery operation condition is switched in accordance with the detected number of jettings or exchanges of the tank 5. Even if deposits are hard to remove sufficiently in a long-time use, the recovery operation is conducted with the recovery operation condition changed. The deposits that could not be removed can be removed accordingly. Recording is achieved with good image quality maintained at all times. |
