PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily adjust the posture of an article by providing a stationary bar code reader with a movable bar code reader in a freely attachable and detachable way and making both the stationary and movable bar code readers read a bar code in an attached state. SOLUTION: When a handheld bar code reader 2 is attached to a holder 12, both a stationary and movable bar code readers 1 and 2 are in an operation state. A fixed scanner 5 of the reader 1 successively projects scan beams in plural different directions through a window 4 is vertically opened upward and also, the reader 2 sequentially projects scan beams in plural different directions through a window 6 that is almost horizontally opened on the side of the scanner 5. When both correctly read a bar code, one reading that is preliminarily defined is supplied to a host computer, and when only either correctly reads it, its value is supplied to the host computer. |
