PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter for an air bag ensuring a small pressure drop, having superior gas passing characteristics and high residue capturing performance and capable of well withstanding the pressure of explosion at the time when the air bag generates gas. SOLUTION: A laminated body consisting of curly metallic short fibers and metallic nets is sintered to obtain the objective filter. The metallic fibers are preferably nickel or nickel alloy fibers or nickel or nickel alloy coated fibers. The metallic nets are preferably nickel or nickel alloy nets or metallic nets of nickel or nickel alloy coated metallic wires. It is desirable that the filter has <=30 μm average pore diameter and >=77% porosity. |
