PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material high in image contrast and having aptitude to processing low in replenishing and high in speed and having high sensitivity and panchromatic performance by incorporating a specified compound in at least one layer formed on the emulsion layer side of a support. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic sensitive material is provided with the silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains having an average grain diameter of >=0.2μm and a hydrazine derivative and a nonphotosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer containing a sliding agent and at least one of dextrine and dextran formed in this order on one side of the support. At least one layer formed on the emulsion layer side of the support contains the compound represented by the formula in which X is a -S- or -Se- group; at least 2 of R1 -R5 is an organic group having a water-soluble group, but both of R3 and R4 do not have the water-soluble groups and each of R1 -R5 being not the organic group having the water-soluble group is an H atom or an optionally substituted alkyl or alkenyl group or the like; and each of R6 and R7 is an H or halogen atom or a hydroxy or carboxy group or the like.
