PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily determine correction points even if the shape is not oval, by a method wherein a plurality of measuring points are arranged at a peripheral part of an object workpiece and measuring points are detected as maximal parts to prescribe each of the maximal parts as correction point, while the positions on the workpiece of correction points are determined, based on a circumferential distance. SOLUTION: XY coordinates are set. A plurality of measuring points P1, P2...Pn are set at a peripheral part of an object workpiece 2 to calculate a coordinate mean from XY coordinate data of the measuring points P1-Pn. A point equivalent to the coordinate mean is set at an assumed center point to find the distance to each of the measuring points P1-Pn as assumed radius. The sum of the distancesΔs between adjacent measuring points is found as circumferential length to find a mean radius. A tolerance between the mean radius and the assumed radius is determined and four measuring points are detected as maximal parts, at the maximum in the descending order from that of the maximum tolerance from among the measuring points with the tolerance thereof larger than the set value. The maximal parts thus obtained are prescribed as correction points, while the positions on the work 2 of the correction points are determined based on the circumferential distance.
