The battery is mounted in a motor scooter by opening a door (71) and introducing the battery into a cavity formed in the fairing beneath the seat. The battery cavity has an 'L'-shaped profile, forming a back stop and a bottom support to position the battery inside the fairing. The battery is held in place in the support by a strap (62). When closed the strap has an 'L'-shaped profile complementing the bottom and back parts of the battery support. The strap is hinged (65,66) in two places, with a clip at the top to lock or release the strap.
