Method for regulating temperature of coolant in combustion engines

With the aid of a thermostat valve, the flow of the coolant can be regulated by a motor cooler, whereby an immediate activation of the valve by the temperature of the coolant at the valve, as well as an activation controlled by performance characteristics of the valve is provided. The immediate activation is only carried out when the other activation is out of operation. The valve has a throughlet for the coolant which can be closed by a safety valve. The safety valve uses an element whose shape reacts immediately to a change in temperature of the coolant. The valve hence closes on a prespecified temperature being exceeded.
