The invention relates to a circuit for transmitting messages on subscriber line between an exchange and a subscriber terminal, comprising a subscriber interface circuit (SLIC), a metering generator (3) and one coding-decoding unit (CODEC) (30) consisting of at least one digital/analog converter (20), at least one analog/digital converter (21) and a signalling logic (11). The digital/analog converter (20) is positioned between the entry of the SLIC (2) and the exit of the summation unit (31) and a first entry of the summation unit (31) is connected to the CODEC signalling logic (11).
