A floor covering is produced by lamination. A thin multicoloured layer of random particles, flakes or chips is deposited. Compared with the thickness of an individual particle, this layer is twice as thick or more. The layer is calendered to a continuous, coherent sheet. In a later stage the sheet is cut into rectangular particles, especially cubes, with sides the thickness of the calendered sheet. Then, from the cubes, a homogenous layer is formed, to be agglomerated by compression, preferably by calendering to the final thickness. Also claimed are the apparatus for the above process and a product, in which lamination is virtually undetectable.
|
