The flat structure is especially made of sandwich-type elements (3) assembled in pre-set configurations. The connecting end sides of the structure elements have edge profiles (1) integrated in the structure elements. Adjacent flat structure elements are locked together by at least one first positive domed edge profile piece contained in a second, negative profile section (2). The edge profile sections have U-shaped cross-sections. The edge profiles are separate profiled rails on each side of which, next to the positive and negative profiled sections, are angled side arms (8) over which grip the outer panels (4) of the flat structure elements. At least parts of the edge profiles have a seal (6).
