The passage to the sheet delivery mechanism for transporting the stack of sheets can be bridged over its entire width by a hinged bridge (1). The hinged bridge can be swivelled out from the passage vertically about an axis (8) extending across the running direction. The hinged bridge directly adjoins the catwalk for the operator. The hinged bridge can be swivelled into its vertical position releasing the passage through spring tension (12) where the spring is connected to the bridge at one end and to a fixed support or catwalk at the other. The free long side of the bridge can be secured by a swivel railing.
