DETERGENT COMPOSITION FOR CLOTHING

A detergent composition for clothing comprising the following components (I) and (II): (I) a surfactant component comprising (A) a sulfonate anionic surfactant and (B) at least either a nonionic surfactant or a sulfate anionic surfactant at a (B) to (A) weight ratio of 1/10 to 2/1, and (II) a component comprising (C) an alkali metal silicate and (D) a sequestering agent other than the component (C) at a (C) to (D) weight ratio of 1/15 to 5/1, in total amounts of the components (I) and (II) of 20 to 50 % by weight and 30 to 80 % by weight, respectively, and having a bulk density of 0.6 g/cc or above; and a process for washing clothing with this detergent composition. The composition makes it possible to remarkably reduce the standard use level of detergents as compared with those of ordinary compact detergent compositions for clothing.
