An electrical installation device which operates with contacts or switch-contacts and as is required, with a latching or breaker mechanism, and/or a release device, and/or a test- or monitoring-device and which is protected against thermal overload. A memory element (1-9) in the following called. M-element, is manufactured from a metal or plastics material having an abrupt change in shape at a shape-changing temperature useable as a threshold temperature and is arranged in the available disconnection chain so that through the change in shape at the shape change temperature a switch-off action results.
