Laundry dryer

A laundry dryer has a rotating laundry drum which is driven by means of a first drive belt (1) wrapped round the drum surface (21) by a back gear pinion (2). The back gear pinion (2) is connected in a torsion-resistant manner to a belt pulley (3) which is driven by the motor pinion (6) of an electric drive motor (7) and mounted on a joint axis with the pulley (3). The axis (4) is fastened on a clamp (8), which is located on a gripping lever (10) in such a way it can be adjusted by a spring force. The lever (10) is mounted tiltably on the dryer housing (9) and is pretensioned through another spring force (14) in the tilting direction. The clamp (8) is associated with an electrical switch (16).
