The invention relates to a device for the wireless transmission of data by means of electromagnetic radiation, comprising at least two data processing units (1, 2) between which data can be transmitted from a transmission module (3, 10) of the one data processing unit (1, 2) to a receiving module (3, 8) of the other data processing unit (1, 2). In each case a transmission beam (4, 11) can be directed towards at least one object (5) by means of the transmission module (3, 10). From an impact area (6, 12) on said object impinged upon by the transmission beam (4, 11) at least part of the intensity of the transmission beam (4, 11) can be reflected in a radiation area (7, 13) for detection as a receiving beam (9, 15). According to the invention the receiving module (3, 8) can be directed towards an impact area (6, 12) with at least one receiving field of view. The size of the receiving field of view preferably is maximally in the region of the dimensions of a radiation area (6, 12). In this way parallel data transmission is possible with a comparatively low error rate while making efficient use of the partial intensity of the transmission beam reflected by the or by each impact area.
