The multifocal contact lens (501) has a substantially spherical lens body with respectively convex and concave outer and inner surfaces. It has horizontal and vertical axes which intersect in the an optical centre point, a central optical zone, and at least two thickened regions (512, 512'; 512a, 512a') between the optical zone and the edge region of the lens. These thickened regions serve for fixing the orientation of the lens relative to the human eye. The optical zone is divided into subzones (522, 523) respectively with specified distant and near view sight corrections, with a smooth transition between the subzones. The sight corrections, at least as far as spherical aberration is concerned, can be specified individually and independently of one another. |
