Fire-retardant thatched roof

The topmost layer of the thatch covering is impregnated with a biological substance, e.g. an extract from the woad plant, to a depth of about 5 cm to 6 cm. There is a sprinkler system inside the topmost layer of the roof cover. The pipeline system which runs substantially parallel to the ridge has built-in torsion nozzles to produce a finely atomised spray mist. The main pipe runs above the ridge and further pipes run along the lower edge of the roof.
